The Nigerian Legion has passed out 220 commissionaires under Course 16 at a ceremony held at the Legion Training Ground in Suleja, Niger.
This is continue in a statement by the Director, Corporate Affairs Nigerian Legion, AA Soaga-Adetoro, on Friday in Abuja.
Speaking at the Passing Out Parade, the National Chairman of the Nigerian Legion, Grace Morenike Henry, urged the newly trained commissionaires to uphold discipline and maintain exemplary conduct as representatives of the council.
Henry reiterated the Legion’s zero tolerance for indiscipline, warning that any behaviour capable of bringing the organisation into disrepute could attract dismissal.
She also advised the commissionaires to refrain from criminal activities and cautioned them against equating their paramilitary training with military status, stressing the distinct role of the Corps.
The chairman, however, assured members of improved welfare and better opportunities, urging them to protect and enhance the reputation of the Nigerian Legion.
Earlier, the Commandant, Corps of Commissionaires, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Capt. N.H. Bako, commended ongoing reforms introduced by the leadership of the Legion.
Bako encouraged the new commissionaires to apply the lessons from their training diligently, noting that the values acquired would guide them in the discharge of their duties.
The ceremony marks a significant milestone for the Corps, reinforcing its commitment to discipline, professionalism and service to humanity. (NAN)
