Nasarawa State House of Assembly, has threatened to order for the revocation of contract for the renovation of a block of three classrooms at LGEA Primary School Ningo, Akwanga LGA over shoddy job.
Hon Abel Yakubu Bala, the Chairman, House Committee on Education, Science and Technology stated this when he led other members of the committee on an on-the-spot assessment of school projects in Akwanga and Kokona LGAs respectively today.
The Committee directed the contractor handling the renovation of a block of three classrooms with office at LGEA Primary School Ningo, Akwanga LGA to appear before the committee on Monday, Sept.28, 2026 by 10am at the Assembly complex.
Hon Abel said that the committee would not condone situations where contractors executed projects with sub standard materials.
He called on the contractor handling renovation of a block of three classrooms at LGEA primary School Ningo to remove all sub standard materials and replace them with quality and standard materials with immediate effect.
” We are not too happy with what we saw on ground at LGEA Primary School Ningo in Akwanga LGA.
” Our records state that the project is completed, but our visit shows it is only 60% to 70% complete.
” The materials used are highly sub standard. The doors and windows are highly substandard. It looks like the ceiling is about to fall down.
” So, we frown at what we saw on ground. To be sincere, we are not too happy and if necessary adjustments are not made, we will order for the revocation of the work immediately,” he said.
The committee assured that the committee would visit the school next week to check whether the contractor addressed the defect discovered or not.
Hon Abel commended Gov. abdullahi Sule for prioritizing the education sectors in the state.
” I want to commend His Excellency, Engr A A Sule for his passion and zeal to the development of the education sector in the state.
“Gov. A A Sule is doing well in the education. He has massively invested and still investing in the education sector , we thank him.
” As the importance of education to societal development cannot be overemphasized,” he said
Hon Abel appealed to the state government to release more funds to the contractor handling the construction of Police Secondary School, Gudi to complete his work
” We went round to see things for ourselves, the contractor is doing a good job.
“The site formar told us that the work is at 70 per cent completion and it is in view of this that I want to appeal to His Excellency to release more funds to the contractor handling this project to complete his work.
The committee chairman urged contractors handling various school projects to do their work according to specifications and to ensure that standard work is done.
Hon Abel said that the committee would leave no stone unturned to ensure that contractors adhere strictly to their project specifications
Hon Abel also urged the state government to support and provide food stuff to Special Nomadic Academy, Sabon Gida, Kokona LGA.
Responding, Mr Mohammed Danladi, Principal, GSS Gudi, Mr Isa Muhammad, Director, Special Nomadic Academy, Sabon Gida Kokona LGA appreciated the committee for the visit and for ensuring good environment for learning and teaching in the state.
They also pledged their commitment to improving the standard of education in their respective schools.
It would be reported that the committee inspected ongoing construction of Police Secondary School Gudi, construction of a block of three classrooms with toilets and office, Construction of a block of three classrooms with toilets and office and construction of a block of three classrooms with office, all at GSS Gudi.
