APC loses another lawmaker from Toto LG Hon. Isimbabi to SDP, says defection in interest of his people, State.

Member representing Toto/Gadabuke constituency at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly Hon. Muhammad Garba Isimbabi has resigned from the ruling All Progressive Congress APC and joined the opposition Social Democratic Party SDP.

Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly Dr. Danladi Jatau announced the defection of the lawmaker during the House proceedings in Lafia today Monday.

The Speaker read the lawmaker’s latter thus:

“You will recall that my certificate of return as a member of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly is in the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and I was sworn in as such in this Hallowed chamber as a member of the 7th Assembly”

“Consequent upon the crisis that consumed the national body of NNPP party, and in the consideration of calls and encouragements from critical and relevant stakeholders of my constituency, despite the situations that led to our exit from the APC then, I returned back to the APC unfortunately, the most desired is all in the past now”

“Mr. Speaker, in the spirit of my next political journey, Sir, I, announce my defection from APC to the Social Democratic Party SDP effective June, 2026.
My commitment to the development of Nasarawa State and the welfare, of my constituency remains my top priority as I continue legislative duties in this honorable House under the banner of the SDP”

It would be recalled that last week Tuesday, two lawmakers Hon. Muhammed Adamu Omadefu APC Keana and Hon. Ajegena Kudu APC Nasarawa Eggon East dumped APC for SDP.

With this development, APC now has 13 members, PDP 7 and SDP 4 respectively.

Similarly, during the day’s proceedings, the House received report of the House Standing Committee on Public Accounts on “A Bill for a Law to Establish the Nasarawa State Character Commission and For Other Matters Connected Thereto” presented by the Chairman of the Committee Hon. Solomon Yakubu Akwashiki where he gave out insights to the bill and what it contains.

The bill is being sponsored by member representing Awe North Hon. Hudu A. Hudu and the Speaker Dr. Danladi Jatau slated 31st August, 2026 for deliberation on the bill’s report.
