Rivers 2027: CRP Alleges Plot to Counter Rainbow Coalition

By Seun Fatoba
The Concerned Rivers People (CRP) has alleged moves by some political actors in Rivers to counter the “Rainbow Coalition” ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The group claimed that a former Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) hosted meetings involving politicians and activists as part of efforts to strategise against the coalition.

In a statement on Sunday, CRP Publicity Secretary, Mr Sunny Nwagbo, also alleged that another meeting was being planned at Heliconia Park Hotel, Eastern Bypass, Port Harcourt.

Nwagbo, however, said such meetings and alleged attempts to work behind the scenes would not halt the coalition’s political activities.

“Information at our disposal confirms that a meeting was held at the residence of a former Managing Director of NDDC to strategise against the Rainbow Coalition.

“We are also aware that another meeting is to hold at the Heliconia Park Hotel, Eastern Bypass.

“Let it be known, the Rainbow Coalition has come to stay. These clandestine meetings and backdoor politics will not stop the will of the people; their plans will totally fail,” he said.

The publicity secretary warned that the group would reveal the identities of the plotters and other details at the appropriate time.
