Premier News Distances Self from Allegations Against Two Lawyers

By Our Reporter

Premier News has dissociated itself from allegations made against two lawyers, Tunde Ogunsakin and Angela Oviawe, at a press conference organised by the Civil Society Coalition Against Corruption in Nigeria (CSCCN) in Abuja on October 12, 2026.

The media organisation made the clarification following further inquiries into the allegations, stating that its presence at the event and publication of a video covering the proceedings should not be interpreted as an endorsement of the claims against the lawyers.

In a clarification statement, Premier News said its subsequent findings had established that Ogunsakin was enrolled on the Roll of Legal Practitioners under the name Johnson Ogunsakin, while Oviawe was enrolled as Angela Iziengbe Erharuyi and adopted the surname Oviawe after marriage.

The organisation said the findings made it necessary to clarify its position on the video and distance itself from the allegations raised at the press conference.

Premier News reaffirmed its commitment to accuracy, fairness, accountability and responsible journalism, stressing the importance of ensuring that media coverage does not inadvertently convey endorsement of unverified allegations.

The clarification comes as the organisation seeks to make its position clear regarding the claims made against the two legal practitioners.
