Nasarawa North APC women urges Gov. Sule to nominate Angela Ayas Bako as running mate to Wadada

The Women of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwanga, Wamba, and Nassarawa Eggon Local Government Areas, have made a passionate appeal to Gov. Abdullahi A. Sule, of Nasarawa State, to consider the nomination of Hon. Angela Ayas Bako, former APC senatorial candidate for the June 20 Nasarawa North bye-election as the Deputy Governorship candidate of Sen. Ahmed Aliyu Wadada for the 2027 gubernatorial election.

Awadzi Namo made the appeal while addressing APC women of Akwanga, Wamba and Nassarawa Eggon LGAs today in Akwanga LGA.

It would be reported that the appeal titled ” A Clarion Call: A Respectful Appeal for Greater Women Inclusion in Nasarawa State Politics 30 years after Creation.

She said that the appeal was founded on the principles of fairness, inclusion, and the need to expand opportunities for women in leadership and governance.

” Since the creation of Nasarawa State in 1996, 30 years ago, no woman has had the privilege of serving as Governor or Deputy Governor.

” As the state continues to make progress in democratic governance, many stakeholders believe the time has come to make history by giving qualified women a greater role in the highest levels of decision-making.

” Hon. Angela Ayas Bako has distinguished herself with close to 20 years of service in the Nigerian financial sector as a banker and a capital market expert.

” Her professional excellence, grassroots engagement, and commitment to the development of Nasarawa State is not in doubt.

The leader of the APC women said Bako’s leadership qualities, experience, and dedication to the service of humanity has earned her admiration across political, religious, and ethnic divides.

” In the recently conducted Nasarawa North bye-election, when the party called on Hon. Angela Ayas Bako to step down for Senator Danladi Halilu Envu-lanza, she did so without hesitation

” And without bitterness. She did not protest. She did not defect. She did not take her supporters elsewhere. She accepted the decision in good faith, returned to the field, and campaigned for the party’s chosen candidate with the same energy she would have brought to her own contest.

” That discipline is a kind our party should always reward, and it tells the party something important about how she would carry high office.

” She also needs little or no introduction to the women and young people of this state,” she said.

The Leader of the APC Women said that women constituted a significant percentage of the electorate and remain active contributors to the social, economic, and political development of the state.

” Providing an opportunity for a competent and credible woman to occupy the position of Deputy Governor would not only strengthen inclusive governance but also inspire a new generation of young women to participate actively in leadership and public service.

Namo also said that among women, Angela Ayas Bako is a source of genuine encouragement.

“Among the youth, she has built a following on presence rather than promises, through years of showing up in the wards long before election season made it fashionable.

” These are the two constituencies that shape our elections today, and their goodwill towards her is real and already mobilised.

” Her strength is not just confined to Akwanga zone of the state. Through her mother’s roots, she enjoys warm and long-standing goodwill in the Lafia zone.

“An affection built over a generation, in communities where she is received not as a visitor but as a daughter.

” In a state where balance matters, a candidate who is welcomed in more than one zone strengthens the ticket rather than complicating it,” she said

She called on Gov Abdullahi A. Sule, party leaders, stakeholders, and all lovers of progress to consider this historic opportunity to advance women participation in governance.

“By supporting the emergence of Hon. Angela Ayas Bako as a potential running mate to Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada in the 2027 gubernatorial election.

” This is more than a nomination. It is a statement of confidence in what women can bring to leadership, and a reminder to every loyal member that service to the APC is noticed and valued.

Together, let us build a more inclusive, representative, and prosperous Nasarawa State for all,” she added.

She further said that Gov. Sule’s administration has already shown what deliberate leadership can achieve in Nasarawa State.

” This is an opportunity of a different kind. Roads can be rebuilt. Budgets can be revised. But a first is made only once, and the leader who makes it is remembered for it.

” Our neighbours in Plateau State have already broken this jinx not once but twice, Her Excellency Pauline Tallen and now Hon Josephine Piyo have occupied the office of Deputy Governor. Nassarawa State will do good by following in that path,” she appealed.
