Nasarawa Assembly visits NSVRTB, AGILE Projects, urges Gov. Sule to provide special funds for Relevant Technology board

Nasarawa State House of Assembly, has called on Gov. Abdullahi Sule to make special funds available to the state Vocational and Relevant Technology Board, Lafia for effective service delivery.

This, the House said, the funds would enable the board to train more youths in different skills acquisition programmes in the state.

Rt.Hon Abel Yakubu Bala, the Chairman, House Committee on Education, Science and Technology made the call when he led other committee members on an inspection visit to the board today in Lafia.

Hon Abel said that the on-the- spot assessment was to enable the committee see things for themselves, with a view of correcting any abnormality, if discovered.

He appreciated the management of the board headed by Engr. Kasimu Hamidu for being up and doing in training youths and other people of the state in different skills acquisition programmes.

According to him, I want to appreciate Gov. Abdullahi Sule for the support he is giving to this board, as the board cannot succeed without his assistance.

” I want to appeal to His Excellency to increase the overhead of the board for effective service delivery.

” .We went round department by department , we are impressed with what we saw. The Executive Secretary secretary of the board is doing well.

” As almost all departments/ trades are busy with their work and we are happy and impressed with their activities.

” It is in view of this that, I want to call on His Excellency, Engr. Abdullahi Sule to make Special Funds available to the board for more development and improvement of trades,” he said

Hon Abel also appealed to Gov. Sule to visit the board to see things for himself for the overall development of the board.

” I want to appeal to His Excellency to visit the board to see things for himself, to see the good work of the Executive Secretary, his team and staff,” he said

Hon Abel further advised the management of the board to provide safety measures to all departments for the safety of staff and students.

Responding, Engr. Kasimu Hamidu, the Executive Secretary of the Board appreciated the committee for supporting the board’s activities to succeed.

He also thanked Gov. Abdullahi Sule for prioritizing the activities of the board.

The Executive Secretary pledged his commitment to train more youths in different skills acquisitions in the state.

It would be reported that the committee visited plumbing, Welding, Tailoring, Barbing, Building, Fabrication, Carpentry, Shoe Making, Electrical installation among others.

In a related development, the committee visited and inspected A block of Six classrooms with office, staff room, laboratory, hall, built under Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment) Project (AGILE) projects at GSS Odorogya and a block of two classroom with office And toilet facilities at GJSS Odorogya in Doma LGA.

Rt. Hon Abel Yakubu Bala, the Chairman of the committee commended the Project Coordinator of AGILE, Nasarawa State, Hajiya Aisha Isogah for her good performance.

He also commended Gov. Abdullahi Sule for approving counterpart fund for the AGILE project in the state.

” We went round and we have seen the AGILE projects, in all areas we visited, the work done by contractors are perfect. We are happy with the quality and standard of work done by the contractor and service provider.

” We are also happy with the AGILE Project Coordinator in. the state, Hajiya Aisha Isogah over her good work.

” As AGILE work is standard and I want to encourage them to do more ,” he said.

Hon Abel assured of the continued support and commitment of the committee to enable them succeed.

Mr Ari Danlami Ogiri, Principal , GJSS Odorogya and Mr Adamu Dahiru Owuso, Principal, GSS Odorogya appreciated the committee for the visit and assured them of their commitment to their duties.

It would be reported that that the committee inspected a block of two classrooms with office and toilet facilities at GJSS Odorogya, Doma LGA.

The committee also inspected A block of 6 classrooms, hall, laboratory, staff room and Principal office at GSS Odorogya, Doma LGA.
