Nasarawa State House has urged State Hospitals Management Board and Nasarawa State Drugs and Supplies Management Agency to continue to provide healthcare that is effective, accessible and of high quality for improved health status of the people of the State
Hon Larry Ben Bawa, the Chairman of the Committee gave the assurance when managements of Nasarawa State Hospitals Management Board, Nasarawa State Drugs and Supplies Management Agency, Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital, Akwanga and College of Nursing Sciences Lafia appeared before the committee on their 2026 budget performance today in Lafia.
Hon Ven-Bawa commended them for their good performance and urged them to continue to live above board while discharging their duties.
He appreciated Nasarawa State Drugs and Supplies Management Agency for supplying quality drugs to health facilities in the state.
The Committee Chairman said that supplying quality drugs would go a long way in improving on the health status of the people of the state.
” I want to commend the management of the State Drugs and Supplies Management Agencies for ensuring supply of drugs to our facilities in the state, ” he said.
Hon Ven- Bawa also commended Gov. Abdullahi Sule for approving funds for the take- off of Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital, (DASH) Akwanga
” We want to thank His Excellency, Engr. Abdullahi Sule for approving funds for the take off of DASH and to ensure improved health status of the people of the state,” he added.
The Committee Chairman appealed to Gov. Sule to release more funds to the health agencies and facilities for better and improved health status of the people of the state.
Hon Ven- Bawa also urged the heads of health facilities to continue to be up and doing for effective service delivery in their respective health facilities.
He assured them of the Committee support and synergy to succeed.
” We will continue to support and collaborate with you to better the health status of our people,” he said.
Earlier, Dr Egba Edego, Chief Medical Director, Nasarawa State Hospitals Management Board , Pharm. Haruna Wakili, the General Manager of Nasarawa State Drugs and Supplies Management Agency, Dr Esla Abene, CMD, DASH Akwanga and Mrs Hannatu Elayo, Acting Provost, College of Nursing Sciences Lafia, appreciated the committee for giving them their maximum support to succeed.
They also appreciated Gov. Abdullahi Sule for the release of funds for the development of the health sector in the state.
They assured of their commitment to ensure improved health status of the people of the state.
Dr Elsa Abene, the Chief Medical Director ( CMD) of DASH Akwanga appreciated Gov. Abdullahi Sule for approving funds for the upgrade of the hospital and recruitment of staff.
He also disclosed that the centre has qualified doctors and consultants that would address health challenges of the people of the state and others.
