The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) says its Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI has destroyed a terrorist enclave and neutralised several insurgents in precision airstrikes at Yaganari in the Gezuwa area of Borno.
NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday in Abuja.
Ejodame said the operation, conducted on July 10, followed credible intelligence indicating renewed terrorist activities and the concentration of fighters within the area.
He said intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions confirmed the presence of terrorist structures and logistics hubs before the targets were engaged in a series of precision strikes.
According to him, the strikes destroyed terrorist infrastructure, neutralised several fighters and further degraded the group’s operational capability.
He said the successful operation underscored the sustained pressure being mounted on terrorist elements, limiting their freedom of movement and ability to regroup.
The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, commended the personnel involved for their professionalism and dedication to the operation.
Aneke reaffirmed the Nigerian Air Force’s commitment to sustaining relentless offensive operations against terrorists and other threats to national security.
“The Nigerian Air Force will continue to deliver decisive air power in concert with surface forces to hunt down, disrupt and destroy terrorist elements wherever they may seek refuge.
“We remain committed to ensuring that terrorists have no safe haven and no opportunity to recover their capabilities,” he said.
The CAS added that the Armed Forces of Nigeria remained firmly on course in consolidating the gains recorded in the ongoing counter-terrorism campaign across the North-East.
