The management of the National Assembly Abuja is carrying out a three day capacity building workshop for staff of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly Accounts Department on general financial management and procedures.
The training workshop which is being conducted by the management of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies NILDS, National Assembly Abuja cetred on Public Accounting Procedures.
The three day capacity building program which commenced Tuesday this week is expected to end this week Thursday.
The workshop is basically for accounts and finance officers, budget officers, revenue and expenditure officers, treasury and cash management personnel.
Other staff of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly undergoing the training in Abuja includes internal control and audit-related finance staff, account clerks and other finance support staff, supervisors and managers responsible for finance operations of the State House of Assembly.
Resource persons and professionals at the week long training from various fields of accounting, audit and budget among others presented various papers on areas of concern with task on participants to take the all important training seriously to gain the knowledge drivable from it and step down in their various offices at returning home for accountability and efficiency as well as effective productivity.
Accounts professionals, it was gathered spoke extensively on general areas of accounting and the new trends in line with international best standard and practices.
The Deputy Clerk, France and Accounts of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly Alkali Haruna who led his staff for the training workshop said it is the desired of the Speaker Dr. Danladi Jatau to see that the staff of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly moved with the new innovations and get the needed knowledge in line with the global best standard and practices hence the need for his approval of the workshop.
Alkali Haruna commended the Speaker Dr. Danladi Jatau for his commitment on staff welfare, passion for their training and retraining saying that in the recent times the Speaker has demonstrated his commitment to the growth of the State Assembly and achieving the best for the House.
He revealed that Dr. Danladi Jatau has approved chains of workshops for the staff across boards and departments which are being carried out accordingly and assured of the staff support for the Speaker and lawmakers to succeed promising to step down knowledge gained.
