Dr Jonathan Thani, the Provost, College of Education, Akwanga, Nasarawa State, has urged Nigerians to always give thanks to God, no matter their situation, to enjoy more God’s blessings and favours.
Thani made the call on Sunday during his thanksgivng service at Kings Summit Church, Akwanga, Akwanga Local Government Area of the state.
“We are thanking God for making it possible for me to be appointed as Provost, award of PhD and God faithfulness to my family.
“We are here to testify to the goodness of the Lord. God has been faithful to my life and the lives of my family members.
“Our lives have not been easy. I went through difficulty in my family, school, but it was God,” he said.
He also said that he was thanking God for the award of his PhD.
“During my PhD programme, it was not easy but God saw me through.
“I was made Provost when I was about completing my PhD,” he added.
Thani recalled that 27 persons applied for the job, but God picked him for the appointment.
“We were 27 that applied for the position of the provost, the number reduced to eight and then I was appointed as the provost. I thank God for that,” Thani said.
He appreciated Gov. Abdullahi Sule for appointing him as the provost of the college, assuring of his readiness to maintain standard in the school.
The provost thanked traditional rulers, politicians and other well wishers, who came from far and near to witness his Thanks giving and wished them safe journey to their various destinations.

On his part, Gov. Abdullahi Sule congratulated Thani and wished him well.
Sule, who was represented by the state Acting Head of Service, Miss Abigail Waya, urged Christians and other Nigerians to always thank God.

“We should all learn to give thanks to God. Our hope and faith should always be in God to overcome the challenges of life as well the national challenges,” the govenror said.
He appreciated Thani for his positive impact in the school and called for its sustenance.

Earlier, the President, Evangelical Reformed Church of Christ (ERCC), Rev. Dave Denji, also called on Christians and other Nigerians to always embrace Thanks giving despite their challenges.
The man of God, who took his reading from I Thessalonians 5:18, admonished Nigerians to always thank God no matter what happened to them.
He said that it is good to thank God no matter one’s conditions or situations.
The ERCC president also urged Nigerians to remain with Christ by shunning idol worshipping.
Other dignitaries at the occasion commended Thani for appreciating God and called on other Nigerians to emulate him.
Mr Habila Adamu, Chim Nku, a second class traditional ruler; Dr John Mamman, APC Chairman, Nasarawa State; Rep. Dahiru Abubakar; Rep. Jeremiah Umaru; and Dr Mike Abdul, former deputy governor of Nasarawa State, graced the event.
Others included Mr Safiyanu Andaha, Chairman Akwanga LGA; the CAN Chairman Akwanga LGA, Rev. Paul Makama; former Provost of the college, Mr Tsaku Kuje; Mr David Abuluya, President, Eggon Cultural and Development Association (ECDA).
They also commended the provost for being up and doing in ensuring improved welfare of lecturers and students as well as raising standard of education in the institution.
They rejoiced with and congratulated Thani, wishing him more God’s protection, guidance and blessings. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
