The Labour Party has commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for its commitment to the rule of law, following the party’s participation in INEC’s Quarterly Consultative Meeting with leaders of political parties.
Ken Asogwa, Senior Special Adviser (Media) to the Interim National Chairman of the Labour Party, Sen. Nenadi Usman made this known in a statement on Thursday in Abuja.
The meeting followed INEC’s recognition of Usman and Sen.
Darlington Nwokocha as Interim National Chairman and Secretary of the Labour Party, in line with the judgment of the Federal High Court delivered on January 21, 2026.
The party said the invitation to the consultative meeting further affirmed the legitimacy of its current leadership, noting that INEC had earlier published the names of the interim leaders on its official portal.
The party expressed appreciation to INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, for what it described as his steadfast adherence to justice and due process.
The party also declared that the leadership crisis that previously rocked had been resolved, thanking supporters, the media, and democracy advocates for their patience and support, while reaffirming its commitment to democratic values and internal unity. (NAN)
