The Service Compact with all Nigerians (SERVICOM) has appreciated the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) for calling off its month-long strike during the Customers Service Week.

Mrs Nnenna Akajemeli, the National Coordinator SERVICOM, who gave the commendation at press conference on Thursday in Abuja, said the gesture demonstrated their love and commitment for the nation.

She said that the development showed a good way to mark the “Customers Service Week”, while also  commended the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 (PTF) for their efforts in combatting the unwanted pandemic.

It would be recalled that in August, the doctors union embarked on strike, following a disagreement with the Federal Government over the non-availability of medical equipment at public and tertiary hospitals among other issues.

According to Akajemeli, SERVICOM is keying into the global customers service week being marked globally to appreciate institutions, private individuals who have contributed to satisfying Nigerians in the discharge of their duties.

“We are celebrating a heart of service for those who served with commitment, dedication and creativity; we are also proposing to celebrate our key stakeholders who have collaborated with us in making service delivery a subject of national discourse.

“We are appreciating all those who have innovatively rendered services such as our medical personnel, the PTF, the Nigeria Police Force, the media, and international organisations, who worked assiduously in sustaining service improvement in spite of COVID-19 pandemic, ” she said.

Other objectives of the celebration, Akajemeli said was to create awareness on the theme for the year, “The power of service”.

Others are to work with Ministries Departments and Agencies, to raise awareness of the impact that service windows have on customers’ experience with the brand.

According to her, the week’s celebration is an opportunity for service and support professionals around the globe to join in celebration of the important role that customer service plays in every organisation.

The Customer Service Week is an international celebration during the first full week in October.

It is dedicated to celebrating the importance of customer service and of the people who serve and support customers on a daily basis.
