The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has congratulated former President of the Senate, Sen. David Mark, as he attained the age of 74, describing him as outstanding elder statesman, a brilliant military officer and excellent legislator.

The party in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Mr Debo Ologunagba in Abuja on Friday, also described Mark as a forthright administrator, courageous political leader and an agent of peace.

Ologunagba said that as a beacon of hope, Sen. Mark has continually demonstrated his unalloyed commitment towards the unity, stability and development of the nation.

He added that Mark remained a quintessence of humility in spite of his towering achievements as a state administrator, federal minister, two-term President of the Senate and now one of the leading figures of the nation.

“Our Party is proud of Senator Mark’s leadership insight and capacity which he displayed not only as a state administrator, but also as a federal minister and particularly as the Senate President, when he led other patriotic Nigerians to save our nation from a constitutional crisis in 2010.”

Ologunagba said that as one of the major pillars of the PDP, Sen. Mark was unrelenting in his selfless contributions towards ensuring continuing peace and stability in the party as it focus on rescuing and rebuilding the nation.

He congratulated Mark and prays God to grant him many more fulfilling years in the service of the PDP, Nigeria and humanity at large.
