The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in FCT, has alleged that some fake security agents sponsored by the opposition party will arrest and detain prominent members of it’s party ahead the Area Council Chairmanship elections.

The FCT State Chairman for PDP, Sunday Zakah, who disclosed this at a news conference in Abuja, said PDP as a party will not take the matter lightly and called for immediate action by security agencies.

According to him, findings have also revealed that there are plans to mobilize thugs from the neighboring Nasarawa, kogi and Niger State ahead of the February 12 elections.

“There is an underground plan to use fake security agents to arrest and detain prominent members and stakeholders of our party ahead of the February 12 elections.

“It baffles us as a party that the ruling All Progressive Party (APC) has drafted a list of governors across Nigeria for an ordinary local government elections meant for grassroot citizens.

“Our background checks and fillers has also revealed that there are plans to mobilize thugs from Nasarawa Toto, Gadabuke and neighbouring towns of Kogi and Niger ahead of the elections.

“We want to use this opportunity and the security operatives to be vigilant of the gimmicks of the desperate opposition that have failed the people of FCT and Nigerians.

“The FCT is the eye of Nigeria that houses diplomats and even the Presidential Villa, so some desperate politicians should not be allowed to thwart the efforts of INEC and their gains in conducting free elections over the years.

“We are appealing to the President, the Minister of FCT and security agencies to provide a level playing ground for all parties and discourage any form of manipulation to subvert the electoral process,” he said.

However, he called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and relevant stakeholders to ensure a free fair and credible election during the exercise.

He said that the attainment of a good election was dependent on transparency by the umpire and cooperation with the candidates and supporters to avoid any form of Electoral violence during elections. (NAN)
