The Hon. Commissioner, Public Complaints Commission Abimbola Ayo-Yusuf, said that the Commission under his watch has improved maximally on its core mandate as presently encapsulated in CAP P.37 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
Ayo-Yusuf, disclosed this on the occasion of the Commissioners Retreat held on Tuesday in Abuja, as sideline to end his administration which was inaugurated July 5, 2021 inaugurated by the leadership of the 9th National Assembly.
The Commissioner said that the dynamics of time within his tenure indeed challenged the status of the organisation and attempted to change the managements structure.
According to him, the administration has risen to the occasion and made necessary inputs to stabilize the Commission with pending legal frameworks to better reposition the organisation.
“It provides me with a unique opportunity to appreciate your understanding and the support given to me from July 5, 2021 when we were inaugurated by the leadership of the 9th National Assembly up till this very moment.
“This retreat is therefore a sober and solemn moment that speaks to the transient nature of the positions we are privileged to hold in life as well as the fleeting nature of life itself.
“You will recall that our tenure was characterised by quite a lot of daunting challenges ranging from poor funding to multi-dimensional agitations from the staff of the Commission but with courage and sense of commitment we were able to overcome them.
“When we compare when we came in to where we are today, our score card clearly shows that the fortune of the Nigerian Ombudsman has greatly improved and can only get better provided our successors share the same vision and mission that we have for the Commission,”
“Moreover, I wish to put it on record that the Public Complaints Commission under my watch improved maximally on its core mandate as presently encapsulated in CAP P.37 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004,” he said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the retreat featured paper presentations and award presentation to PCC Commissioners form the 36 states and FCT. (NAN)
