A 32-year-old Nursing Mother, Mrs Ann Akpa has regained freedom after three days at the Nigeria Correctional Centre, Abakaliki, Ebonyi capital.

According to reports, Akpa was arraigned in court over alleged flogging Magistrate Lilian Igwesi with a stick on Aug 28, 2023 at number 32 Hill-Top Road, Abakaliki.

She was faced with a two-count charge of assault and breach of peace.

The Nursing Mother told NAN on Thursday, that she was bailed with a sum of N200, 000 after three days with her six months old baby.

Akpa said she was happy over her release and begged that the matter should not linger anymore.

On what led to her arraignment, she explained that it was not fight, but a minor quarrel between her and the magistrate.

“I have to tell you the truth, it was just a minor quarrel on that day between me and the magistrate, who have been my neighbour for several years .

“We lives in the same compound. On that day, we had some quarrel and I was taken to court and remanded for three days.

“We did not fight, it happens that the magistrate threw a packer (dirt pack) on me and we started quarreling.

“I don’t want the issue to linger anymore. I just want peace to resign. Let us live and forgive one another. We came from the same community and same local government area in Ebonyi.

“I must say that, she (the magistrate) is my sister. So, the issue right now is that we have started living in peace and onenes. We have forgiven each other.

“I never want any third party in the firstp place, but I thank God that the matter has ended.

“I was bailed with a sum of N200, 000 only after the three days I was remanded at the Correctional centre,” she explained.
