The Nigerian Army is set to establish a Forward Operating Base (FOB) on a 400-hectare plot of land allocated to it in Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi.
A credible source at Army Headquarters told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the planned FOB is located along the Anyigba–Iyale road.
He said the new FOB was part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security presence and operations in Kogi East Senatorial District.
According to him, the Deputy Chief of Operations (Army), Maj.-Gen. P.B. Kaughna led an assessment team to the site on Sept. 16.
“The team was received by the Commander 12 Brigade, Brig.-Gen. K.U. Sidi, before proceeding to inspect the land.
“The delegation also paid a courtesy visit to the traditional ruler of Anyigba, the Ogohi-Onu Anyigba, Alhaji Shuaibu Okolo, prior to commencing the land survey,” he said.
The source added that the assessment visit included stops at troops’ locations in FOB Oguma, Ejule, and Patrol Base Ayingba, where the team interacted with personnel and evaluated their operational readiness.
He said the exercise was hitch-free and reaffirmed army’s commitment to boosting security and stability across Kogi.(NAN)
