A Lagos based importer of automobile battery, Mr. Solomon Nwadiogbu has lamented the annual loss of N150 billion to fake battery products which he says was responsible for damaged of many cars in Nigeria.

Mr Nwadiogbu who is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Emilinks Nigeria Limited, disclosed this on Sunday in Abuja in a chat with a correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

He expressed displeasure over the colossal damage fake batteries have cost the economy over years and offered solution to the challenge saying that his company was willing to offer Nigerians batteries with five years life span with three years warranty.

“In Nigeria, battery failure is one of the top problems among car owners. Nigeria needs about five million batteries every year, this includes solar, forklift, cranes, and other heavy-duty equipment.

“For a country with an annual demand of 720,000 vehicles, you will agree with me that this is a very big issue Nigerians are struggling with.

“The use of bad batteries will affect the engines of automobile vehicles. We forsee a serious threat because of the influx of substandard batteries into the country and this is a threat to the economy.

“Many people waste their hard earned money to buy these products at an average cost of N30,000, and going by Nigeria’s annual battery demand of five million batteries, it means we are losing a whopping N150 billion naira annually to fake automobile batteries” he stressed.

Nwadiogbu who is a dealer in importation of European electronics and other products said his company had imported quality batteries that could last five years with three years warranty.

He regretted a situation where some countries were making Nigeria a dumping ground, adding that, Nigeria leaders who are incharge of this sector must find a lasting solution to this challenge.

He alleged that the Koreans and the Chinese have made Nigeria a dumping ground for fake batteries, adding that this is a heavy colossal waste to the country’s economy, and must not be tolerated anymore.

He explained that Batteries from emilinks company are ‘follow-come’, batteries with high quality, just like the same quality as the ones that comes with a brand-new car.

According to him, “we have them in different sizes; 65 amps, 75 amps, 63 amps, 77 amps, 90 amps, 140 amps, 190 amps, and 100 amps, and that they are all made in Europe and have 3 – 5 years lifespan so long as the car’s charging system is okay.

He called on Nigerians and motorists to also reach out to the company via www.Emilinks.com , adding that every battery that people buys stand the chance to enjoy two to three years extended warranty.

“You can enjoy quality products at very affordable prices on all Emilinks Limited products for the next 30 days starting from March 21, 2022.

“All products will be made available to customers directly from the company warehouse located in Lagos. This doesn’t in anyway hinder nationwide delivery to other states across the country.

“As a company, we make it a matter of principle to positively impact and add value to our society. A simple Google search will reveal several campaigns in the past that we have launched to impact our industry as well as the Nigerian society at large.”

“Emilinks has empowered the Nigerian youths to promote the importance of quality doors through the #MyDoorStory campaign and it rewarded financially 300 Nigerians in a creative writing competition.

“Through the Emilinks Foundation, 1000 Nigerians was fed daily from January to October during the 2020 global pandemic. Over 1500 people received 50kg bags of rice and 5 litres of oil.

“The firm also paid for medical bills of many during the pandemic,” Nwadiogbu said. (NAN)
