An Abuja based non governmental organization (NGO), Zoe’s Flower Foundation as part of its monthly  skills acquisition program trained over 20 youth for the month of March on Shoemaking.

Program Coordinator,  Raphael Duru speaking at the one day seminar explained that the organization is partnering with professionals and well skilled individuals in Nigeria from various sectors to train participants in different fields to enhance their skills and improve their employability and entrepreneurial abilities.

Duru noted that the essence of the free training aside helping people to see the need that they don’t have to always wait for government but  be self reliant is to fight the growing poverty challenge due to COVID 19 pandemic which led to loss of jobs.

Creative director,  Omarz Kreations Footwear Production, Ijeoma OKenyi while speaking with stressed that participants were being taught the basics.

She added that, the art of shoemaking was vast and as such it would be a continuous training for participants to achieve  the needed impact and enable them start up their own businesses.

A partner, executive director of Everlfe Community, Unaks Victor, said his organisation’s has a particular objective impacting in the lives of young people to have a purpose driven life irrespective of age by providing them the platform to thrive in craft and any given profession.

Another partner, Sabina Ahywa in her opinion capacity building is effective with mentorship and her role is to follow up on participants to support and guide them to the right path after training. (NAN)
