The Organisation of Graduate Unemployed in Nigeria (OGUN), an NGO, has donated some entrepreneurship items to the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

The Secretary General, OGUN, Mr Yakubu Ibrahim, while presenting the items to the FCT Coordinator of NYSC in Abuja, said the donations were part of the organisation’s quest among several others to support and encourage Nigerian youths to embrace entrepreneurship and self employment.

According to him, this is the best way to self-accomplishment and self-reliance.

“NYSC is a good demography to start with, that if they are empowered they can employ more of the uneducated ones in our society, the nation will be better for it.

“The donations made to the NYSC were entrepreneurship items that includes Industrial filling and grinding machines, pallet hammars, Industrial tools box, multiple leather perforator tools, shoe molds and so on.

“These efforts are to equally encourage the government to do more in supporting and empowering the youth to embrace entrepreneurship as the most sustainable means to Job creation and employment opportunities.

He further appreciated the efforts of the state coordinator in managing the affairs of NYSC, FCT office, with the required support from the NYSC Director General, especially in areas of entrepreneurship and empowerment.

Responding, the NYSC State Coordinator, Mr Suleman Abdul, commended the Federal Government and Skills Acquisition and Entreprenuership Department (SAED) team of the corp for their responsible efforts in sustaining NYSC Scheme and its entrepreneurship units.

Abdul, while applauding the NGO’s efforts, said even though only one corp member benefits from this donation, “the reward and impact on our society would be enormous.”

He, therefore, called on meaningful Nigerians to create platform that would complement government efforts in empowering the youths, thereby creating Job opportunities for the teaming population. (NAN)
