The National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI) has received the 2021 Security and Emergency Management Awards for its Humanitarian Responses.
This is contained in a statement, signed Mr Murdakai Titus, the Head of Department, Refugees and Migrants Affairs, on Monday in Abuja.
Titus said the award ceremony was organised by Image Merchants Promotion Limited.
According to him, the Commission had been in the forefront of humanitarian activities as it relates to refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).
According to the statement, Chief Executive Officer, Image Merchants, Yushau Shu’aib, said the award is in recognition of the Commission’s immeasurable and invaluable contribution to humanitarian response.
“The idea behind the award series is to publicly acknowledge and appreciate the agencies (and the individuals behind them) with a view to creating resilient and professional approach in the management of security and emergency situations in the country.
“The Awards is an annual event envisioned to celebrate the best of the bests in security and response agencies in Nigeria.
“It is noteworthy that some past winners went ahead to clinch global awards which include African Public Relations Award and Golden World Award instituted by the International Public Relations Association (IPRA).
“Some of them were the Nigeria Communications Commission, Nigeria Air Force and Nigeria Customs Service, Department of State Security Services, National Information Technology Development Agency and the Kaduna State Government,’’ Shu’aib said.
According to him, the award process was a product of a rigorous, painstaking and highly competitive exercise by a committee of seasoned communication scholars, PR specialists and public communicators.
Shu’aib also recognised the patriotic and outstanding contributions in security services and strategic communications that Nigerians find themselves today.
He explained that by instituting the Awards of this nature, the organizations, agencies and individuals being honored will further motivate others in their patriotic duties.
However, Titus said the Honourable Federal Commissioner, Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, has done so well in the Commission to earn the award, adding that the Commission would continue to do its best in humanitarian response. (NAN)
