Dayo Olutayo, Senior Pastor of the Unity Worship Centre, formerly Good Tidings Bible Church, has called on Nigerians to listen to the voice of God and do His will to enhance national growth and prosperity.
Olutayo made the call at the Grand Finale of Maranatha 2025 and celebration of the 21st Anniversary of Unity Worship Centre Abuja on Sunday in Abuja.
The cleric, who noted that the economy challenge was a global issue and not peculiar to Nigeria alone, called for tolerance.
“In the Bible, money failed in Egypt and they started going to those who have goods to sell. And that is why Joseph came up.
”I believe that people with treasures in form of wisdom will come up.
“We should be attentive to the things that God is saying to us in whatever religion that you are serving. This will certainly bring prosperity into our country Nigeria.
“Unity is very important. Nigerians should see each other as brothers and sisters, and as one family, to help ourselves, so that those that have will assist those that don’t have, until we grow together. That is my advice to the nation,” Olutayo said.
According to him, life is hard globally, but when people know God and listen to His voice, everything will be okay.
Olutayo gave further explanation on why the name of the church was changed from Good Tidings Bible Church to Unity Worship Centre.
The cleric said it was an instruction from God on a new chapter that emphasised on one God, one faith and one spirit.
Quoting from the book of Genesis 11:16, the cleric pointed out that when we speak one language in the whole world, the achievements would be unlimited.
“Until language was confused, the whole world was in progress. That confusion of language is what brought us to where we are today as a people, nation and human being.
“So, Unity Worship Centre is to bring us back to that one umbrella, that of one family. Adam had two different skin colour children but from the same parent. So we are all the same,” Olutayo stressed.
Also speaking, a Minister in the Centre, Mr Okey Udo, said the Church was celebrating 21 years of God’s favour, mercy and breakthrough
“Maranatha means, “God come”. Except God is in our mist, nothing extraordinary happens, but when God is involve, we have every reason to celebrate.
“So, we are saying, God come and let the light of your favour, endorsement and mercy speak in our mist,” Udo said.
Similarly, a pastor in the church, Casmir Igwe, described the 21 years journey of the church as “a showcase God’s faithfulness”.
“In the past 21 years, this church has experienced God’s mercy and favour irrespective of the challenges.
“The church is also a blessing to various communities, because we provided boreholes for communities to have clean water; also we have feeding Centres across Abuja that feed the needy. We do a lot,” he said.
Meanwhile, a foundational member of the church, Evelyn Onyilo, said she used her experience as former President of Nigeria Association of Women Journalists to serve the lord in the Media Unit of the church.
“I was one of those that attended the very first Sunday Service. The first service was held as an all night on Nov. 4, 2004. It was in a rented place in Area 3 Junction.
“But see where we are now. This is a place where God honours His words. A place we worship and live as one family.
“There has been turbulence along the line which was expected, but we have overcome. The church of God is marching on,” Onyilo stressed. (NAN)
