Nasarawa State House of Assembly has today commenced 2024 budget defence for Ministries, Departments and Agencies MDAs of government.

The House commended Gov. Abdullahi Sule for developing the education sector in the State especially given the education sector a lion share in the budget.

Hon Abel Yakubu Bala, the Chairman, House Committee on Education and Deputy Majority Leader of the House gave the commendation when the Ministry of Science,Technology and Innovation appeared before the committee to defend its 2024 budget today in Lafia.

Bala assured of the committee’s commitment to promote science and technical education in the State.

He said that the importance of science and technology could not be overemphasized, hence the need of the assembly’s readiness to support the ministry to succeed.

” I want to appreciate His Excellency, Engr. Abdullahi Sule for his passion on the education sector, particularly science and technical education in the state.

” We will support the state government to succeed in its good science and technical education policies and programmes.

” We also want to assure you that we will do our best in ensuring releases of funds to enable you execute projects, ” he said.

Hon Abel urged the management of the ministry to continue to be up and doing in uplifting the standard of education in the state

The committee chairman also assured of its synergy with the state government to address the challenged facing the ministry in the state.

Earlier, Hon Samuel Emgba, the Commissioner for Science and Technology appreciated the committee for always be behind the ministry to succeed.

He assured of the state government commitment to promote science and technical education in the state.

The commissioner appreciated Gov. Abdullahi Sule for prioritizing technical education in the state.

Also appeared before the committee to defend its 2024 budget was Nasarawa State Information Technology and Digital Economy Agency (NASITDEA) led by its Director General, Haruna Sani where he appreciated the committee for always supporting its activities to succeed.

The director general assured of his determination to take the agency to the next level of development.

On his part, Hon Abel Yakubu Bala, the Chairman of the committee assured of the committee readiness to support the agency to succeed.

” We are always available to partner with the government to boost ICT in the state.

” We will support you to achieve the dreams of your agency,” he said.

The committee also played host to management of the State Teachers Service Commission (TSC) led by its Chairman, Alhaji Mohammed Gada where he assured of the commission’s commitment to ensure quality education in the state via effective supervision of teachers.

The chairman appreciated the committee for supporting its activities to succeed.

Gada said that the commission has plan to train teachers for optimal productivity in the state.

He said that the commission has only one functional vehicle while appealing to the committee to help to secure more vehicles for the commission.

” We have a lot of work to do, to supervise and monitor teachers. We want this committee to intervene on this matter for improved standard of education,” he said

On his part, Hon Usman Labaran Shafa, the Secretary of the Commission appreciated the committee for the needed support given to the commission to succeed.

” I want to congratulate Hon Abel Bala as Chairman of the House Committee on Education. Appointment well deserved sir.

” On our part we will continue to recognize the committee in our activities,” he said.

The committee chairman, Hon Abel Yakubu Bala urged the commission to continue to be up and doing for quality education in the state..

” This committee is willing to support you to succeed in order to ensure improved standard of education in the state.

” Without education, we will remain stagnant. We will support His Excellency to succeed as he has passion for the education sector.

” We want to assure you that we will do the needful to address your challenges,” he said

The chairman called for continued cordial relationship between TSC and the committee for quality education.

The committee chairman assured of the committee intervention to address the challenges facing the board calling on the State Government to as a matter of urgency provide more vehicles for TSC to ease their work.
