The Nasarawa State House of Assembly Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs says all arrangement has been concluded to hold a one day public hearing on a Bill for a Law to Repeal and Enact the Establishment, Structure, Composition, Finance and Functions of LG System in Nasarawa State, 2024 and Other Matters Connected Thereto.

A statement by Chairman House Committee on LG. Hon. Musa Abubakar Ibrahim said the amendment is in line with the recent Supreme Court judgement which grant financial autonomy to LGAs in Nigeria.

The statement however called on the State Ministry For LG. Ministry of Justice, Nigeria Bar Association NBA, State Pension Bureau, Local Government Service Commission, Chairman State Council of Chiefs and Emir of Lafia Retired Justice Sidi Bage Muhammad as well as all interested bodies, groups and individuals to submit 15 copies of memorandum on their observations and recommendations on the proposed amendment bill.

The statement added that all parties involved are also expected to appear for submission and oral defence on Monday 21st October, 2024 by 10 O’clock in the morning at Assembly complex Shendam Road Lafia.
