Kokona East (APC) has emerged new
Speaker of the Nasarawa State House
of Assembly.
His emergence came within 48 hours
after the Appeal Court sacked the
former Speaker, Ibrahim Balarebe
Abdullahi.
Rep. Mohammed Oyanki, representing
Doma South (PDP) as Deputy Speaker.
The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja on
Tuesday in its late hour’s verdict,
sacked the Speaker of the State
Assembly.
The Speaker, before his sacking
was a member of the APC in the State and a longest ranking member in the State House of Assembly.
The verdict was delivered by the Court
that sacked lbrahim, had the candidate
of the main opposition People’s
Democratic party, Sa’ad Abdullahi
lbrahim declared as the rightful winner
of the March 18 2023 election for the
Umaisha/Ugya State Constituency.
The action is not unconnected with
tomorrow’s budget presentation by
Governor Abdullahi Sule to the
Assembly where a Speaker will preside
over.
