Nasarawa State House of Assembly, has confirmed the appointment of Engr. Abubakar Bello as Chairman of Nasarawa State Electricity Regulatory Commission (NASERC) and five others as Commissioners of the Commission.

Rt.. Hon. Danladi Jatau, the Speaker of the House announced their confirmations after the appeared for screening during the House proceedings today in Lafia.

Dr. Jatau announced the confirmation of Engr. Muhammad Dan-Iya Dauda as Commissioner for Technical Regulation, who will also serve as Vice Chairman of the Commission.

“Others confirmed are Dr. Moses A. Arigu, Commissioner for Economic Regulation and Consumer Affairs Division, Engr Ahmed Al-Mustapha Usman, Commissioner for Rural Electrification Access Management and Mr. Ubam A. Adego (JP), Commissioner for Finance and Administration as well as Barr. Mohammed Jibrin Aboke as Commissioner for Legal and Licensing” he said.

The Speaker urged them to bring their wealth of experiences to bear and change the narrative in ensuring stable power supply in the State.

Jatau while congratulating them on their well deserved appointments, urged them to live above board while discharging their duties.

The Speaker, then directed the Clerk of the House to communicate the House resolution to Gov. Abdullahi Sule for his necessary action.

In their various contributions, Hon. Daniel Ogah Ogazi, Hon. Suleiman Yakubu Azara, Rt. Hon. Muhammad Oyanki, the Deputy Speaker of the House, Hon. Solomon Yakubu Akwashiki and Hon. Musa Ibrahim Abubakar among others urged the Chairman and his Commissioners to ensure constant power supply in the State.

They urged the commission to operate based on the law establishing it as passed by the State House of Assembly.

Speaking with newsmen shortly after his confirmation Engr. Abubakar Bello the Chairman of Nasarawa State Electricity Regulatory Commission (NASERC) assured of constant power supply in the State.

“The duty of the commission is to maintain, generate, transmit and distribute power supply.

“Now that power supply is decentralized, by the Special Grace of God, there will be constant power supply in the state,” he said.

The Chairman of the Commission also said that he would encourage investors to the state in order to ensure constant and stable power supply at all times.
