Nacabs Polytechnic, Akwanga, Nasarawa State, matriculated 522 students on Thursday for the 2021/2022 academic session.

It was its 10th matriculation where the founder, Mr Mandy David-Abuluya, admonished the students to shun social vices.

He noted that social vices had affected the lives and education of many students negatively, hence the need for the students to shun such vices at all times.

“First and foremost, I want to congratulate you for securing admission into this institution.

“This institution is known for its academic excellence. You need to face your academics with seriousness in order to excel.

“I also advise you against engaging in cultism and examination malpractice.

“Please stay clear of cultism, examination malpractice and other social vices as anyone caught will be expelled,’’ he said.

David-Abuluya, who is also the President, Eggon Cultural and Development Association Worldwide, said that 65 per cent of the students were on scholarship.

The founder said that he decided to offer scholarships to the students to enable them to have access to education for the overall development of the country.

The proprietor has also solicited for the support of the state government, NGOs and other well-spirited individuals for further development of the school.

Also speaking, the Rector of the Polytechnic, Mr Gbatar Shatange, urged the new students to shun anything that would take their education backward.

“Nacabs Polytechnic is known for its academic excellence and as our students; you need to be disciplined, focused, hardworking and committed to your studies.

“I urge you not to involve yourselves in acts that will lead to your rustication or expulsion as the case may be,’’ the rector said.

Administering the oath of matriculation on the students, Mr Usman Ogah, the Registrar urged them to abide by the oath taken in their interests and for the overall development of the education sector.

Ogah called on the students to abide by all the school’s rules and regulations and study hard to enable them to excel in their academic pursuits.

Responding, Victoria Adebayo, a new student, who spoke on behalf of others, pledged to abide by the rules and regulations.

At the occasion, Mr Joseph Ibekwe, President/Chief Executive Officer, Fled International Leadership Institute, Abuja, presented his institution’s Fellowship Award to David-Abuluya. (NAN)
