Mr David Abuluya, the Proprietor, Nacabs Polytechnic, Akwanga, Nasarawa State, says the institution will start degree programmes in the 2021/ 2022 academic session.
Abuluya stated this on Monday in Akwanga during a Resource Inspection visit by the Senate Committee, University of Jos, Plateau.
He said that the commencement of Accountancy, Business Administration and Management would be in affiliation with the University of Jos.
“We wanted to start with eight programmes in affiliation with the University of Jos but they have approved two programmes for us – Accountancy and Business Administration and Management.
According to him, the eight programmes they applied for are Accountancy, Business Administration and Management, Electrical/ Electronics, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, Public Administration and Mass Communication.
“We want to appreciate the Senate committee of the university for being on ground to see things for themselves. Hopefully, the programme will take off during 2021/2022 academic session,” he said.
The proprietor has assured of the institution’s commitment to maintain standard in the interest of the education sector.
Dr Yohanna Jugu, the Deputy Dean, Faculty of Management Sciences, University of Jos, said they were at the institution to assess physical facilities, resource persons among others requirement for the take-off of the two degree programmes.
“We are here in respect of your application seeking for affiliations of eight programmes with the university.
“The Senate Committee on Affiliations and Linkages of the school looked into your application and mandated us to be here to inspect facilities in the school,’’ he said.
Jugu, who is a leader of the team said that when the two programmes were successfully affiliated, the remaining six programmes may be considered by the university.
The deputy dean restated the university’s commitment to partner Institutions for improved standard of education in the country.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the team inspected the polytechnic’s Administrative block, Accounting and Business Administration laboratories, ICT department, school library among others.
