Alhaji Nura Kangiwa, the Director-General, National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR), says the proposed high-quality motorised training platform will boost Nigeria’s hospitality sector.

Kangiwa told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Abuja that the project would facilitate the core mandate of the institute.

According to him, the institute has the responsibility of training and upskilling personnel for the Nigeria’s hospitality sector.

“Modern kitchen-on-wheels will be deployed to Nigeria’s hinterlands for hospitality and catering skills development trainings and demonstrations where NIHOTOUR currently has no campus.”

Kangiwa added that the institute was established by an Act of Parliament with the mandate to train, certify and register all personnel in Nigeria’s hospitality, travel and tourism sectors.

He said that NIHOTOUR ‘Mobile Training Kitchen’ was designed to be 95 per cent eco-friendly.

According to him, all equipment and power generator on board the truck run on Liquefied petroleum gas. only the vehicle engine runs on diesel.

“So far, we have 11 campuses across Nigeria’s six-geopolitical zones; hence the truck will enable us to take our trainings to locations where we are yet to set up a campus or training centre,’’ he said.
Kangiwa said equipment in the motorised kitchen included professional catering five burner gas cooker, ⁠double door tower fridge with ice maker and crusher, ⁠display fridge and freezer for ice cream, and gas powered double deep fryer.

“The kitchen equipment in the truck are griddle with dual surface heating with gas, ⁠heavy duty microwave, 500 litres water tank with dedicated pressure pump for the kitchen sink.

“Others are gas powered 16-dish food warmer, kitchen blender centre among others,” he said.

Kangiwa assured that the acquisition of the mobile training truck would contribute significantly to achieving the institute goal of taking training closer to the stakeholders in the hinterlands as expected.

He added that such would enhance NIHOTOUR market presence sub-nationally, as well as expanded their reach within the hospitality and tourism industry.

NAN reports that the Minister of Tourism, Mrs Lola Ade-John will officially launch the institute ‘Mobile Training Kitchen Truck’ on Tuesday.(NAN)
