The Speaker, Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdullahi, has commended workers in the state over their enormous contributions in administration and governance of the state.
He also described workers as engine room of the government.
This is contained in a statement issued by his Press Secretary, Mr Jibrin Gwamna, and made available to newsmen in Lafia on Monday, to mark this year’s workers day.
Abdullahi congratulated the workers on the unique day and described them as hardworking, understanding and patriotic citizens.
He assured the workers in the state of full legislative support and partnership towards encouraging and supporting government to better their welfare at all times.
Abdullahi also commended Gov. Abdullahi Sule on workers welfare, implementation of workers promotion, training, prompt payment of salaries and pension, among others.
“And gratuity for retirees and the ongoing employment of casual workers in the state,” the statement noted.
The speaker also acknowledged the support of workers to the present administration in the state and congratulated the new state NLC Chairman, Mr Ismaila Okoh, wishing the new executive members a successful tenure.
He however called for sustained and effective working relationship between the labour union and government for smooth administration in the state.
Abdullahi also urged workers to continue to work as a team and contribute positively to the development of the state. (NAN)
