Mr Micah Jiba, a member of House of Representatives, representing Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) and Bwari Federal Constituency has admonished couples to imbibed the virtues of patience and perseverance to build peaceful homes.

The lawmaker gave the advice at a wedding ceremony of Miss Hope Aywetu and Mr Joseph Shammah, held on Saturday at the Living Faith Church, Goshen at Auta Balefi Community in Karu, Local Government, Nasarawa State.

Jiba urged the couple to show understanding and mutual respect to each other to enable them achieve sustainable peace and harmony in their marital life.

” Your union is not the beginning and it will not be an end. Many people have done it successful and we pray and hope that yours will also be a shining example.

” The major attributes that sustains a marriage is patience and perseverance. I believe that when you are patient in anything you are doing or you are asking from God, you will surely get it,” he said.

Earlier, Rev. Danjuma Dara, father of the bride, advised the couple to love themselves, put God first in their heart and trust Him.

“My candid advice to you is that you should always communicate just as it was said by the preacher. Communicate, understand and forgive one other, share views, ideas and problems together.

“And we are wishing you the best in your matrimonial home. It is our prayer that at any point in time you should have that spirit of understanding.

” Obviously, there must be conflict but the man should be strong to bear it and it is also good for a woman to be calm, show respect to her husband. In short, the way you can respect your father, it is a transfer of power to the husband.

” The husband should now be the father to her at all costs and she should see him in that regard,” he said.

High point of the event was the cutting of the marriage cake by the couple, their parents, friends and loved ones.
