The Eggon Youth Movement (EYM), Karu chapter in Nasarawa, has urged youths to continue to embrace unity and peaceful coexistence for sustainable social and economic development of the state.

Mr Istifanus Obadiah, Chairman of the association, gave the charge at the dedication of her bye-law and fund raising ceremony for the purchase of land on Sunday in Karu, Nasarawa.

Obadiah said the importance of peace to social development could not be over emphasised, hence the need for Nigerians to embrace it.

“Peace is the necessary requirement for the development of every society as peace is priceless and non negotiable.

“Let us continue to unite, live in peace, be our brother’s keeper and tolerate one another irrespective of our differences,” he said.

He appealed to the members of the association and other stakeholders to continue to contribute positively towards the development of the association, Nasarawa and the country at large.

The chairman also assured of the association’s continued determination to key into positive policies and programmes that would have direct bearing on the lives of members of the association and the society.

In his remark, Chief Isaac Kigbu, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Awasco Integrated Farms, called on the youths and other Nigerians to live in peace and be their brother’s keepers for the overall development of the country.

Kigbu, who is also the chief launcher of the occassion said that: “Peace is panacea for societal development; without unity and peace, no society will achieve meaningful progress and development.”

The philanthropist pleged his continued contributions to the development of the association, the state and country.

Also speaking, Mr Aliku Adoji, representative of Eggon community in Karu, commended members of the association for their commitment in promoting peace among themselves and other people in the area.

He admonished them to be law abiding, respect constituted authorities and live peacefully with one another for the overall development of the state.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the event attended by youths and women associations, business community, political and community leaders was organised to raise fund for the purchase of land for the association.  (NAN)
