The Korean Cultural Centre in Nigeria (KCCN) has blended the Korean Traditional Music with K-Pop to deepen cultural ties with the Nigerian audience and lovers of Korean music in the 2026 edition of K-Heritage Music Festival in Abuja.
The event took place at the prestigious Nicon Luxury Hotel on May 16, 2026 in Abuja.
HammerTimes News Online reports that K-Heritage Festival is an annual cultural celebration organised by the KCCN.
Speaking, the event manager of KCCN, Ms Yunjin Lee said, K-Heritage Festival started in 2025 in Lagos.
Accordijg to her, the festival serves as a vibrant bridge between Nigeria and Korea, bringing together traditional Korean artistry and modern entertainment such as K-pop, traditional drumming (Janggu), and dance.
“It aimed at showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Korea through its traditional dance and songs, as well as its modern global influence.
“The festival brought together audiences through vibrant performances, cultural exchange and shared appreciation for Korean heritage and modern entertainment.
“The festival has continued its mission of connecting cultures through music and dance, making audiences to look forward to captivating performances, including traditional dance and janggu drumming.
“The event also celebrated a dynamic blend of ancient traditional dances of Korea, and also served as a medium that brought unique and vibrant experiences, which will continue to shape and build both countries.
“It also aimed at bringing the Korean traditional performances to Nigeria.
“Inviting Korean artists and Sori-Chum, a Korea term and project that combined traditional Korean arts was designedto promote traditional Korean culture and arts in Nigeria,” she said.
She further explained that bringing traditional Korean, teacher, students, K-POP, KCCN K-pop dance students, previous K-POP festival, vocal and dance to stage helped people to embrace race K-heritage.
Lee said the Centre is planning to organise a Korean drum festival known as ‘Janggu’ in Lagos again to fulfill plans of having more traditional classes.
She added that 2026 K-heritage festival focused more on the performances of Korean traditional music and dance which is the ‘fan dance’.
HammerTimes News Online reports that there were electrifying performances by Melissa Minseong Seo, Hyunjeong Park, Jago students, Victory Mbagwu.
Others were 2025 K- pop finalist singer Amira Ademiyi, , KCCN dance classes, 2025 K-pop first prize winner ‘ Xtreme Movement’, Team Switch ‘ and many others.
Meanwhile a Korean Music Fan, Ifeanyi Moses said the K-Heritage was a good experience.
“My friends and I enjoyed ourselves: the performances by Melissa Seo, students of the K-Pop Academy, Hyunjeong Park, Xtreme Movement and Team Switch were really electrifying.
“We had fun, and wamt more of this like every quarter of the year,” he said.
