A Christian Cleric in Nasarawa State, Rev. Fr Lawrence Anyembugu, has urged Nigerians to shun negative acts for development to thrive.

Anyembugu, a priest in-charge of St John’s Catholic Church, Awe, made the call on Friday in Akwanga while fielding questions from the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Nasarawa State at 25 and Nigeria’s 61st anniversary in Akwanga.

He has also called on the people of the state and Nigerians to embrace unity and peaceful co-existence for development to thrive.

The clergy said that unity and peace are key to societal development, hence the need for his admonishment.

The man of God while congratulating the people of Nasarawa State and Nigerians on 25 years and 61 years of independence, also urged them to love one another.
“I want to congratulate the people of Nasarawa State at 25 and Nigerians at 61 years.

“My message is for all of us to live in unity, peace, be law abiding, respect constituted authorities and tolerate one another.

“We should also be our brother’s keepers in the interest of development,” he said.

On his part, Mr Monday Nanza, a former administrator of Akun Development Area of Nasarawa State, called on Nigerians to co-exist peacefully.

“We can only progress and develop when we live in unity and peace.

“As peace is priceless and non-negotiable and it is the necessary requirement for the development of every society,” he said.

Nanza, who was a former special assistant to former governor Tanko Al-Makura, also urged the people of the state to continue to support President Muhammadu Buhari and Gov. Abdullahi Sule to succeed.

“Let’s us continue to support President Muhammadu Buhari and Gov. Abdullahi Sule to succeed in order to enjoy more dividends of democracy,” he said. (NAN)
