Nasarawa Geographic Information Service (NAGIS), says it has collected N986.5million as Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) to the state government coffer from January to date.
Mr Sonny Agassi, the Director General of NAGIS, disclosed this while defending the agency 2024 budget before the Nasarawa State House of Assembly committee on Lands and Survey today in Lafia.
He said that NAGIS approved revenue budget for 2023 was N 974,500,000 but the agency collected N986,497,190.33 from January to date superceding its revenue target and promised to hit N1 billion by the end of this month.
” Honourable members at the moment, we have collected N986,497,190.33 to the coffer of the state government from January to this moment.
” We have superceded our approved revenue budget for 2023 of N 974,500,000,” he said.
The Director General said that it would collect more money to the coffer of the state government in 2024.
” We will do our best to collect more revenue to the coffer of the state government in 2024,” he said
Agassi appreciated the committee, the State Assembly and Gov. Abdullahi Sule for giving special attention to NAGIS to succeed.
Agassi said that money were generated from Certificate of Occupancy (C of O), Right of Occupancy (R of O), rent and government properties, among others.
He appreciated the committee and Gov. Abdullahi Sule for supporting the agency to succeed and called for its sustenance.
Responding, Hon. Emmanuel Ezekiel Manding, the Chairman, House Committee on Lands and Survey said that the committee would continue to support NAGIS activities to succeed.
He appreciated NAGIS for collecting more revenue to the coffer of the state government while urging them to generate more in 2024.
The committee chairman also appreciated Gov. Abdullahi Sule for his efforts in taking NAGIS to the next level of development.
Also appeared before the committee on its 2024 budget was the Ministry of Land and Urban Development led by its Permanent Secretary, Alh Khalid Adamu where he appreciated the committee for supporting its activities to succeed.
The Permanent Secretary said that inadequate funding and non realeases of funds among others are the major challenges facing the ministry.
The Committee Chairman assured of the committee’s support to the ministry to succeed at all times.
