The former Minister of Information, Mr Labaran Maku, has urged civil servants and other Nigerians to embrace work hard as well as integrity in order to excel in their professions and for the overall development of the society.
Maku made the call on Friday while playing host to a group, ‘Maku Mentees in his residence in Wakama, Nassarawa Eggon Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
It would be reported that the group is made up of over 250 people that Maku had given them jobs across various Ministries, Departments and Agencies ( MDAs) in the country.
Maku said that hard work and integrity were paying, hence the need for his call in that direction.
The former minister of Information appreciated them for their visit towards thanking him for giving them jobs in different MDAs in the country.
Maku said, “I have reached out to help the children of the poor and less-privileged ones and others through employment and others.
” There is no tribe in this state that I have not employed their people.”
He also called on them and other people to help the poor, widows, orphans and other indigent Nigerians.
” God has given me the opportunity to help you by giving you jobs and other empowerments.
” Please embrace hard work , work hard as young men and women . My advice to you is work. Don’t allow your colleagues to discourage you from hard work.
” I am so excited that you are growing in your professions and I pray God to continue to grow you in your professions,” he said.
Maku also urged them to shun all negative tendencies capable of tarnishing their images and those of their families.
” Continue to make me and the society proud by discharging your duties effectively and diligently,” he added.
Maku also called on them to embrace modern technologies in order to excel in their jobs.
” I also want to call on you to be familiar with technology. Be familiar with latest technology to improve in your jobs,” he added.
The former minister further called on Nigerians to depend on God and remember God in their daily activities.
” The fear of God is what you need. I want you to remember God every day and in every of your activities.
” Please go and follow God whole heartily in your places of Work.
” I am not a saint but I am not a thief, I always remember and depend on God in my activities.
” With no God father, I became Commissioner, Deputy Governor and Minister while some people are joining cults because of power,” he said.
Maku urged Nigerians to show love to one another for the overall development of the country.
” When you love God, you can’t steal, hate and kill fellow your human beings,” he added.
Maku urged them to be loyal and respect their bosses in their work places.
He urged them to go for training and higher certificates to enhance their skills for optimal productivity.
Earlier, Mr Bitrus Mamman, Chairman of ‘Maku Mentees’, said that the visit was to appreciate him for giving them jobs.
” We are here to show you appreciation for what you have done in our lives, you have given us jobs and we thank God and we thank you Sir .
“Sir, thank you for impacting on our lives positively,” he said.
Mamman assured Maku of their sustained loyalty and support to him to succeed at all times.
” We are fully ready to support you and work closely with you,” he added.
