Dr Musa Ahmed, former Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly currently the Accountant General of the state, has advised members of the 7th assembly to maintain a robust working relationship with the executive to fastrack development.
Ahmed also urged the lawmakers to live in unity and peace within themselves.
According to him, cooperating and maintaining good working relationship with the executive arm will bring speedy development to the state and their various constituencies.
Ahmed gave the advice when Nasarawa State House of Assembly Committee on Finance and Appropriation visited his office on 2023 budget performance on Monday in Lafia.
The former speaker said that no meaningful progress and development would take place in an atmosphere of rancour.
“There will be no progress and development in the House and the state at large, if members are not in peace with each other and if members don’t have good working relationship with the executive arm.
“So, I urge you to live in peace within yourselves and maintain harmonious and good working relationship with the executive arm,” he said.
The accountant general recalled how his leadership as the Speaker of the 4th Assembly attempted to impeach the former governor of the state, Sen. Tanko Al-Makura.
“I said it severally that, on behalf of myself and members of the 4th Assembly, I apologised to the people of Nasarawa State and Al-Makura on the attempted impeachment, that no doubt brought some set back to the state.
“As there will be no development in the state where members are in rancour within themselves and with the executive arm,” he said.
Ahmed promised to be accountable and transparent while discharging his duties.
“I am not a dubious and fraudulent man and by God’s grace I will not be as there is life after death.
“I will ensure transparency and accountability in carrying out my duties,” he assured.
The accountant general therefore urged the Assembly to support him and Gov. Abdullahi Sule for the overall development of the state.
