Mr Ahmed Usman, the Chairman, Doma Local Government Council of Nasarawa State, has advised political appointees to live above board and shun corruption.

Usman gave the task on Tuesday in Doma while inaugurating over 170 political appointees.

He also urged them to shun acts capable of tarnishing their image, that of the council and the state at large.

“I want to call on you to be accountable and transparent while discharging your duties.

“And you are also to operate an open door policy in order to carry your people along while discharging your responsibilities.

“I want to call on you to discharge your duties with the fear of God and without fear or favour,” he charged.

Besides, Usman enjoined them to work in accordance with the constitutional provision of the local government laws for the overall development of the state.

The chairman assured of his continuous commitment to provide more dividends of democracy to the people of the area.

He called on all and sundry to support his administration and that of Gov. Abdullahi Sule to succeed.

The council boss urged the people of the area to desist from acts capable of undermining the existing peace being enjoyed in the area.

The state Commissioner for Trade, Industry and Investment, Mr Salihu Enah, urged the political appointees to justify the confidence reposed in them by contributing their quota positively to the development of the area.

The commissioner also urged the appointtee to ensure that they deliver all the APC flag bearers in next year’s general elections.

Responding on behalf of other appointees, Mr Audu Sabo, a Supervisory Councillor, appreciated the council boss and promised to discharge their duties with the fear of God.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that those sworn-in included supervisory councillors, special advisers, senior special assistants, special assistants, chief of saff and deputy chief of staff among others. (NAN)
