The current social and economic challenges and the attendant psychological effects confronting most Nigerians not withstanding, Muslims have been urged to shun suicide mission as a solution to their problems.
The Chief Imam of the kogi State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology mosque, Lokoja, north central Nigeria, Sheikh Abdulganiu Ayuba, gave the advice on Friday during his sermon at jumat service.
According to him, taking one’s life before Allah’s appointed time is a grave sin, warning that those who indulge in such heinous crime will face the consequences of their action on the day of judgement.
“We don’t own our life, it is given to us by Almighty Allah and He is the only one that can take it from us, at His appointed time.
“Any Muslim,who because of the social or economic problem him or her,, takes his or life, is liable to face punishment on the day of judgement, because Islam does not subscribe to it”.
He called on Muslim parents and guardians to train their children and wards in the way of Islamic injunctions and principles.
Sheikh Ayuba said that doing so would enable such children and wards refrain from wayward ways that would lead them astray and indulge in immoral acts and corrupt the society.
The religious leader also called on Muslims to be stead fast in their relationship with Almighty Allah in prayers,abstain from corrupt practices s as well as maintain peace with their neighbors.
He said that such move would ensure the realisation of the desired meaningful development in the society.
