The Director-General of National Boundary Commission, Mr Adamu Adaji, has advised states with boundary disputes between them to unite in resolving such issues.

Adaji gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja.

“We want to recommend to all states in the country that have flash points, heated causes of claims and counterclaims, that they should come together and resolve them at their own levels.

“They should do it for the benefit of their communities to reduce tension and create harmonious relationship and confidence among them,” he said.

Adaji expressed optimism that the states would cooperate in resolving issues adding that the little resources available to them could be used to impact on the communities.

NAN reports that there are no fewer than 86 boundary disputes between and among states in the country but the commission had been able to resolve about 30 of such disputes.

Some of the disputes are between Benue and Taraba, Kogi and Anambra, Ebonyi and Enugu, River and Ebonyi and many others. (NAN)
