Benford International School, Abuja to Hold Inter-House Sports and Launch “Play, Swim and Grow” Fund-Raising Campaign

Benford International School will hold its bi-annual Inter-House Sports competition alongside the official launch of the “Play, Swim and Grow” campaign aimed at raising funds for the development of new sports facilities, including modern playground equipment and the construction of a standard swimming pool.

The event, scheduled for March 28, 2026, will take place at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium beginning at 9:00 a.m.

The programme is expected to bring together students, parents, alumni, staff, invited schools, youth organisations, and distinguished guests for a day of athletics, celebration, and community engagement.

Highlights of the event will include a colourful march-past by the various houses, youth organisations and invited schools, as well as track and field competitions. The occasion will also feature the formal launch of the “Play, Swim and Grow” fund-raising initiative to support the acquisition of modern playground equipment and the construction of a swimming pool for the school.

Chairman of the Board of Directors of the school, Ambassador Benaoyagha Okoyen, said the initiative forms part of the institution’s commitment to promoting balanced education through sports, recreation, and physical development.

According to him, the proposed facilities will provide students with improved opportunities to develop their talents while encouraging discipline, teamwork, and healthy living.

Amb. Okoyen explained that the fund-raising launch is designed to mobilise support from parents, corporate organisations, alumni, and well-meaning individuals towards the provision of modern sporting infrastructure that will enable students to play, swim, and grow.

“Sports play a vital role in the holistic development of children. Beyond academic excellence, we are committed to providing facilities that will help our students build confidence, discover their talents, and develop leadership skills,” he said.

He added that the planned playground equipment and modern swimming pool would significantly enhance the school’s sports programme and create a conducive environment for physical education and recreation.

Amb. Okoyen also commended parents and stakeholders for their continued support toward the growth and development of the institution and called on members of the public to attend the event and support the initiative.

The Inter-House Sports competition, he noted, remains one of the school’s flagship bi-annual events aimed at promoting unity, healthy competition, and community participation among students.
