Prime Minister of the Anambra State Association of Town Unions (ASATU), Amb. Dr. John Metchie has donated a whooping sum of N1 Million to Soludo Support Group (SSG) to support activities of the group.
Making the donation at the ” YOU NEED TO KNOW” as well as unveiling of SSG new uniform held at the Professor Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre Awka at the weekend, Metchie who was the Chairman of the occasion underscored the importance of support groups and the pivotal roles they played in preaching the gospel of good governance in the hinterlands as clearly exemplified in the activities of Soludo Support Group (SSG).
Represented at the occasion by the ASATU national president Chief Barr. Titus Nnabuike Akpudo, Metchie who is also the Deputy Commander-General (technical services) of the Nigerian Hunters and Forest Security Service (NHFSS) further extolled SSG for penetrating the grassroots with good news on road construction, quality healthcare delivery, job recruitments, free education, war against insecurity as well as the state government efforts to enthrone a liveable, loveable and prosperous homeland for all and sundry.
Metchie, a philanthropist per excellence, has lifted many out of abject penury and squalor through his humanitarian services in his country home Umueri Anambra-East council area, where he equally doubled as the President-General of the community town union.
Metchie, as a Peace Ambassador of the United Nations has championed peace in remote communities through youth empowerments and human capital development programmes as he believes in investing in the younger generation to secure their future.
He however described the Convener and National Coordinator of Soludo Support Group (SSG) Hon. Chinedu Nwoye (Glamour) as vibrant, diligent and hardworking, adding that SSG has established presence in all the nooks and crannies of Anambra State.
The ASATU Prime Minister who has provided a multi-million naira modern security post at Umueri to combat insecurity in the Omambala region of the state, maintained that Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo’s giant infrastructural strides were being replicated in the region because the governor has set standards for sustainable development.
He therefore encouraged SSG to continue to penetrate the grassroots and win more souls for the present state government as he believes that Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo has come to provide solutions to Anambra’s teething problems.
