The wife of the president, Mrs Aisha Buhari, has pledge adequate support to OCI Foundation’s Arm Our Youths (ArOY) Health Campaign Initiative, to be inaugurated on Feb. 3 in Abuja.
Buhari gave assurance of her support when the Founder and President of the Foundation, Prof. Chris Ifediora, paid her a courtesy visit at the State House in Abuja.
This is contained in a statement by the Foundation’s Media Director, Mr Samuel Agwu, on Wednesday in Abuja.
Buhari explained that as the World commemorates Cancer Day, Nigerians and the Government must show serious commitment towards addressing all cancer-related issues and ensure a reduction in its prevalence.
Earlier, Ifediora noted that the Health Campaign was endorsed by Harvard University and supported by the World Health Organisation (WHO).
Ifediora further explained that the target is to collaborate with the Federal Government towards ensuring that cancer preventive teachings be included in the curriculum of all Senior Secondary schools in the 36 States and the FCT.
He added that a ‘Gynocular Center’ would be inaugurated at Apo, FCT, and hoped that similar gesture would be subsequently extended to the six geopolitical zones of the country. (NAN)
