Kafanchan (Kaduna State), May 30, 2026 (NAN) The Minister of Defence, retired Gen. Christopher Musa, said that sustaining the growing peace in Southern Kaduna depends largely on unity and active community support for security operations.
Musa stated this on Saturday in Kafanchan on the sidelines of the Southern Kaduna Festival (SKFEST) 2026.
He noted that while security agencies were making significant progress, lasting peace could only be achieved through close collaboration between communities and the Armed Forces.
“The Armed Forces and other security agencies cannot do it alone. We need the cooperation of the communities. When the people support us, success is assured,” he said.
The minister urged residents to remain vigilant and expose individuals aiding criminal elements through information sharing and logistics support.
“We must identify those within us who are helping criminals. When you see something wrong, report it promptly and action will be taken,” he added.
Speaking on the performance of the current administration, Musa commended President Bola Tinubu for taking bold decisions to address longstanding national challenges.
According to him, the reforms may come with initial difficulties but would ultimately yield positive results.
“What we are going through is a process that will make us stronger as a nation. Nigerians should remain patient and continue to support government efforts,” he said.
Musa, who was honoured at the festival, pledged to redouble his efforts in service to the nation.
“Expect more work, more commitment, and more dedication. Our goal remains a safer, peaceful, and better Nigeria,” he said.
Speaking on the prestigious Southern Kaduna Grand Commander (SKGC) conferred on him, Musa expressed deep appreciation, describing it as both an honour and a call to greater service.
He added that the recognition reflected collective effort rather than individual achievement.
“I am deeply humbled and profoundly honoured to be counted among the recipients of this prestigious award. I receive it with gratitude, humility, and a renewed commitment to service.
“This award belongs not only to us but to all hardworking sons and daughters of Southern Kaduna who continue to serve with dedication. Progress is the product of collective vision, shared sacrifice, and sustained collaboration,” he said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the award was in recognition of Musa’s contributions to national security, peacebuilding and his representation of Southern Kaduna on the global stage.
The festival featured colourful cultural displays, performances, exhibitions and tourism showcases, attracting dignitaries, traditional rulers, and visitors from across the country.
