Zaks Foundation for Humanity has concluded its March 2026 edition of its Nutritional Assistance Programme, extending food support to over 400 vulnerable households in Kogi.
The final outreach for the month took place in Kogi Central, where beneficiaries received food packages containing rice, beans, vegetable oil, seasoning and salt.
This is contained in a statement issued by the Chairman of the foundation, Mr Zakari Aliyu, on Monday in Abuja.
Aliyu described the successful completion of the monthly distribution as a reflection of the organisation’s commitment to addressing hunger and poverty.
He noted that since the programme began in 2023, the foundation had sustained consistent food distribution to vulnerable communities.
Aliyu said the organisation planned to expand its outreach across the North Central Region and possibly to other parts of the country in response to rising poverty levels.
“Poverty remains a major concern in Nigeria, with millions of people struggling to meet basic needs.
“Food insecurity continues to drive this challenge, and we see its impact daily, both in rural and urban communities.
“Beyond food distribution, the foundation implements programmes in health, education, agriculture and environmental sustainability.
“We also integrate menstrual hygiene support into our interventions by providing sanitary products to girls during outreach programmes and in rural schools to reduce absenteeism,” he said.
Aliyu further disclosed that the foundation collaborates with primary healthcare centres to conduct antenatal outreach services for pregnant women.
He said the interventions included the distribution of food items, essential medicines and mosquito nets.
According to him, the foundation also supports children suffering from severe acute malnutrition through the provision of ready-to-use therapeutic food and locally produced nutritional supplements such as Tom Brown.
He added that ahead of the farming season, the organisation would roll out agricultural support programmes, including the distribution of fertilisers, herbicides, pesticides, seedlings and farming tools to rural farmers.
Aliyu appreciated donors and partners for their continued support and called on government agencies, private organisations and well-meaning Nigerians to collaborate with the foundation to scale its impact.
“Our goal is to reach more vulnerable people and provide sustainable support that improves livelihoods and reduces poverty,” he said. (NAN)
