As the people of Nasarawa State await the completion of the upgrade and rebranding of the state owned broadcast outfit, Nasarawa Broadcasting Service (NBS), Nasarawa State House of Assembly has called for training of staff on modern technicalities of broadcasting.
The Chairman, House committee on Information, Hon Jonah Ali Dizaho made the call while on Oversight Function to the station in Lafia today.
It would be reported that Nasarawa State House of Assembly Committee on Information were at the NBS to assess the ongoing upgrading and rebranding of the broadcast outfit to ensure the contractual terms are strictly adhere to.
After the inspection, the committee, management of the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism and the station went in for budget performance for the second quarter of 2026 where the issue of upgrade still dominated the discourse.
The Chairman of the Committee, Hon Jonah Ali Dizaho, has called for training of NBS staff on modern technicalities of broadcasting so as to handle the new apparatus.
Meanwhile when the management of the state Ministry of Information appeared before Dizaho’s committee, the issue of designated state owned hotels resurface where the committee was taken aback to discover its intervention for the past three years for the office of the SSG to return the control and management of those hotels to the ministry is adamantly being neglected.
Additionally, the committee was taken by surprise to learnt that FeFe Ruwa water falls at Tunga Nupawa, Lafia local government designated as recreation center awaiting national and state’s inputs is being controlled by the ministry of Agriculture instead of information, pledging to summon SSG and the Commissioner Agriculture to address the issue.
On his part, the Executive Vice Chairman of the station, Mr Awwulu Salihu said the management is exploring available options but the committee advocated installation of alternative power supplies so as to not to jeopardize the new facilities.
He appreciated the committee for their support to succeed.
Dr Nawani Aboki, Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism thanked the committee for supporting the activities of the ministry to succeed.
He also appreciated Gov. Abdullahi Sule for the upgrade of NBS and for giving his attention to the activities of the ministry to succeed.
