Nasarawa State House of Assembly, has commended Gov. Abdullahi Sule for approving disbursement of bursary allowances to students studying at various tertiary institutions in the country for the 2025/ 2026 academic session.
The Chairman, House Committee on Education, Science and Technology, Rt. Hon. Abel Yakubu Bala gave the commendation when the management of the State Scholarship Board appeared before the committee on their budget performance for second quarter of 2026 today in Lafia.
Hon Abel said that the payment of bursary allowances has helped many students in the state, thereby reducing the burden of school fees on their parents and improving the standard of education in the state.
” I want to thank His Excellency, Engr. Abdullah A. Sule for his concern for Nasarawa State students year in and year out.
” I want to appreciate him for approving this year’s scholarship for the students as said by the Executive Secretary of the Board,” he said
Hon Abel also commended Gov. Sule for his efforts in developing the education sector in the State.
He said that Sule deserved commendation for prioritizing the education sector in the State.
Hon Abel said that the oversight function was to ensure that the right things are done by Ministries, Departments and Agencies ( MDAs) in the state.
” This exercise is not to witch hunt anybody but to assess the board performance.
“As the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, has empowered us to oversight your office to assess your budget performance,” he said.
Hon Abel also commended the Executive Secretary of the Board, Hajiya Sa’adatu Yahaya and her team for job well done.
” I want to appreciate you for good work. You are doing well. We are highly impressed with you work, keep it up,” he added.
The Chairman assured of the committee’s continued determination to support the board to succeed.
Earlier, Hajiya Sa’adatu Yahaya, the Executive Secretary of the board appreciated the committee and the state government for supporting its activities to succeed.
Hajiya Sa’adatu also appreciated Gov Sule’s for prioritizing students’ welfare and for improved standard of education in the state.
