Prof. Mohammed Sani Haruna, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant in Nasarawa State, said he remained in the party after the primaries to promote peace and stability in the party and the state at large
Haruna, a former Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), stated this during the Nasarawa North APC Zonal Mega Meeting in Akwanga on Sunday.
It would be reported that the meeting was organised by the Concerned Nasarawa North Support Group for Prof. Mohammed Sani Haruna with the theme: “Moving Forward Together for Sustainable Progress”.
According to the former NASENI boss, he is still in the governorship race, saying that there is room for substitution based on INEC guidelines.
“It’s pertinent to noted that it is not late, because there is still room for substitution of any candidate this September,” he said.
The former NASENI boss said there was no primary election in his ward and local government area.
“Our complaint is that there were no primaries. I say also, even in my ward, in my local government, there was no ward where election took place. And even myself as a candidate, I didn’t vote, and that is our protest.
“We have written a formal petition to the Appeal Committee. We have also written to the APC headquarters about our grievances, as there was no APC governorship primary election in my ward and local government.
“The outcome of their findings, when it is made available to us, we will declare to the public our final decision.
“Whatever is decided, even if it is not in our favour, we will accept it in good faith, but we are still pursuing it,” he said.
Sani Haruna appreciated the group for organising the meeting and assured them and the people of the state of more dividends of democracy if elected governor.
The APC governorship aspirant also urged his supporters to remain in the APC and work for the victory of the party in 2027.
Also speaking, Mr. Benjamin Baka, Deputy Chairman, Contact and Mobilisation Committee, Prof. Sani Haruna Campaign Organisation, appreciated stakeholders and other people for having faith in ex-NASENI boss.
He said Sani-Haruna had done a lot in the areas of employment, empowerment, project execution, and had brought the needed development to the state when he was NASENI boss.
“My message is that the National Secretariat of the APC, which received our principal’s petition, should come out with what they discovered in the petition.
“They should come out with their decision on the petition, so that we will know the direction,” he said.
Earlier, Mr. Yusuf Lawee, Chairman, Concerned Nasarawa North Support Group for Prof. Mohammed Sani-Haruna, said the meeting was organised to show their love and support for the aspirant.
He assured the ex-NASENI boss of their loyalty and commitment to mobilise support for him to succeed.
Lawee, a former Commissioner for Agriculture in the state, called on SaniHaruna’s supporters to continue to support the APC to succeed.
It would be reported that the meeting brought together APC stakeholders, supporters, and other well-wishers of Sani-Haruna. (NAN)
