The award was presented to Onoja by the Commandant-General of the NSCDC, Prof. Ahmed Audi, at the Corps’ National Armourers Retreat and Symposium.

The recognition was in honour of Onoja’s dedication, discipline, professionalism and commitment to national service.

It also highlighted the contributions of the Mining Marshals to the fight against illegal mining, mineral theft and other economic crimes affecting Nigeria’s solid minerals sector.

Under Onoja’s leadership, the specialised unit has sustained operations aimed at protecting the nation’s mineral resources and supporting efforts to sanitise the mining industry.

He described the honour as a reflection of the dedication and sacrifices of officers and men of the Mining Marshals across the country.

Onoja dedicated the award to his team, attributing the unit’s achievements to teamwork, resilience, loyalty and selfless service.

He pledged that the Mining Marshals would intensify operations against illegal mining and continue supporting the NSCDC’s mandate to protect Nigeria’s mineral resources.

He said the unit remained committed to ensuring that the nation’s mineral wealth was protected for the benefit of present and future generations.
